Scott Factories' Radio
1 indicate did not rupture broadcasting rules with jokes about Essex young
ladies, guard dog Ofcom has ruled.
The BBC show was
examined after it started grumblings that jests were sexist and slanderous.
Jokes incorporated
"What's the principal thing an Essex young lady does in the morning? Goes
home", "Why does an Essex young lady wear pants? To keep her lower
legs warm", and "What does an Essex young lady say after her
specialist reveals to her she is pregnant? Is it mine?".

An Ofcom representative
stated: "We researched a progression of jokes made in this program
communicate as a feature of Entertainment.
"While we
recognize that a portion of the jokes could annoy, we discovered they were
probably not going to have surpassed most audience members' desires."
The jokes were
communicate in Spring as Factories and kindred moderator Chris Stark remained
on air for 24 hours in a marathon show to raise cash for Lighthearted element.
Bobby Norris, from
unscripted television demonstrate The Main Way Is Essex (Towie), made the jokes
after the hosts of the Radio 1 indicate advised audience members he was there
to state "a few arrangements of Essex young lady jokes".
Factories had told
audience members: "I'd get a kick out of the chance to call attention to,
before anybody gripes, this is a man from Essex, living in Essex on a show
(Towie) about Essex."
He included: "I'm
getting a charge out of this to such an extent."
Different jokes, which
were sent in by audience members, incorporated "What's the contrast
between an Essex young lady and a pressing board? Incidentally you experience
difficulty getting the legs separated on a pressing board".
A BBC representative
beforehand stated: "No offense was expected by the jokes that were
communicate amid Radio 1′s 24-hour LOLathon to raise cash for Lighthearted
element."
